Rai Fiction unveils new animation

Italy’s Rai Fiction, production arm of pubcaster Rai TV, unveiled new animated shows last week including toons centring on Jules Verne and Greek hero Ulysses.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Jules Verne (26×26′), coproduced with Lux Vide and produced by Musicartoon, will air on Rai Due.

The series is based on Verne’s classic adventures and shows the writer following a mad scientist trying to reach the centre of the Earth, another who claims he has found a way to reach the moon and a British Lord convinced he can travel around the world in 80 days.

One of the best-known heroes of Greek mythology will also air on Rai Due, in Ulysses – My Name is Nobody. Targeting five-12s, it is directed by Giuseppe Maurizio Lagana and centres on a 14-year-old boy, the youngest in Ulysees’ crew, and a 12-year-old girl.

Other titles Rai announced as part of its fall season include a second 26-episode season of Ripples on Rai Tre; Rainbow’s PopPixie; Spike Team; and Art With Matì and Dadà.
